By Spec Miata rules, it is sufficient to install a hand held fire extinguisher for fire safety. I thought this was a bad compromise, so I’m in the process of installing a multi-zone fire system. The one I chose is the E.S.S. 2.3 liter AFFF SFI-rated system. Here are a few pictures from my as-yet-completed installation:

Mounting Location

Bolted to the floor. Be sure to avoid fuel or brake lines when drilling.

The metal strap is to prevent tearing the fire pull out of the plastic dash shield during an emergency.
