Suspecting a clutch slave cylinder leak, I took off the front right wheel to take a closer look. Giving a squeeze to the boot revealed a bunch of fluid — as shown in the below picture. I’ve got a replacement on order and hope to repair it this weekend if I get the part in time. In the mean time, I’ll just be sure to top up the fluid.

An easy task I did take care of tonight was dropping in some new NGK Iridium IX spark plugs. The old plugs I pulled are shown below. I took a look at the Spark Plug Diagnosis web page to compare with the old plus and they seem to be exhibit normal wear. Nonetheless, the car had been running a little rough at idle and intended to replace the plugs no matter what. I will also replace the plug wires with some Racing Beat Ultra Ignition Wires when they show up in the mail.

Finally, here’s a picture of the 1999 Mazda Miata MX-5 I’m doing this work on.
